Conclusion: Do We Really Want Revival?

If we’re happy with the way things are, then we don’t need revival. If we’re dissatisfied with the status quo, then we must be willing to do something different. As long as we keep doing what we’re doing, we’ll continue to get what we’ve got. It will take a new process to produce a new product. It can’t continue to be church as usual. We need to realistically assess the state we’re in. We must stop being Christian consumers and get into the process of producing Christians. If we truly want revival, then we must accept the package it comes in and embrace the process that produces it. Like other real world processes, revival will be messy, it will be unpredictable, and it will produce waste. We must be careful that we don’t quench the fire or hamper the process that produces revival. We must not despise the package it comes in. In fact, we can enjoy the package and even the process. However, even in revival, we cannot leave our discernment behind. We are still responsible to test everything and we should hold fast to the fruit revival produces: a harvest of changed lives and saved souls. If we want the fruit of revival, then we must be willing to do the work of revival and continually clean up the mess that revival makes.

The Lord of the Harvest is calling; can you hear his voice?

And concerning this revival, we must make a choice:

We can whine and pout that there’s chaff all about

Or we can rejoice in the Lord’s harvest of wheat!
